Late THIN LIZZY Frontman's Music To Be Commemorated At Irish Concerts
December 7, 2005Former THIN LIZZY guitarist Brian "Robbo" Robertson has confirmed that he will be joining the bill for the 20th Vibe for Philo, an annual concert held in Dublin to remember and commemorate the music of Philip Lynott, songwriter, musician and poet.
As a 16-year-old unknown virtuoso, Robbo strode into a London rehearsal room following Eric Bell's departure from THIN LIZZY. Several hours later he had created the definitive twin-guitar sound which would not only define THIN LIZZY at the height of their power, but influence subsequent generations of rock bands from BON JOVI to DEF LEPPARD. Classic LIZZY tracks such as "Jailbreak", "The Cowboy Song", "Are You Ready", and "Don't Believe a Word" all bear Robbo's trademark riffs, while his playing on "Still in Love with You" is regarded as one of the most perfect rock/blues guitar solos ever committed to the recording process.
Robbo will be joined on stage by THE SOUTHBOUND BAND, formed from the remnants of THE ELITE. One of Ireland's great rock bands of the 1990s, THE ELITE not only enjoyed success in their own right, but laid down the template for tribute bands the world over with their high-energy, take no prisoners, LIZZY/"Live and Dangerous" specials at both Slattery's in Dublin and various early Vibes. Those who were there can relive the moment. Those who missed them first time round can finally see what their big brothers and sisters have always talked about.
As if that wasn't enough, both Eric Bell and Robbo have decided to re-explore the old twin-guitar sound in a special, no-holds-barred, old-fashioned, jam session, bringing both LIZZY eras together on stage for the first time. Special guests are being lined up for each show. The Vibe takes to the road at:
Jan. 04 - Vicar Street - Dublin
Jan. 05 - Savoy - Cork
Jan. 06 - Langtons - Kilkenny
Jan. 07 - Dolans - Limerick
